What is your idea for today?

I am lucky to have been a part of a big conference and trade show the past few days in Orlando, Florida on behalf of our long term partner, The Vendome Group.
November 20th, 2013
During this show, I had a great conversation with a great friend and SRE
supporter, Mike Whittington from Mike Whittington and Associates and although we
didn’t have much time to talk, we did talk about the power of staying sharp.
Not just staying mired in the planning process, but being on an event floor and
executing- seeing your ideas come to life, and your diligence making your client
look good. He has many clients and gets to see so many approaches to similar
problems. This gives Mike the edge to be able to offer his clients not just
service, but ideas. Anyone can take an order, or manage details, but who is
managing ideas?
The world has evolved by the power of ideas. From fire to electricity, someone
had an idea, and the diligence to follow through on enacting it. That should be
the same in our professional relationships, right? In an age where everyone is
quick to press send to manage details, we should all strive to build into our
workday either “Idea Time” or build ideas into process management. Such as “Is
this the newest concept in this area? If not, what is?” Or “Can we do this
better? How?” Or simply following through on your convictions that there are
better ways to do things and that maybe the way you have been doing something is
antiquated.
What is your idea for today?
