Kicking off 2016 with some exciting updates from SRE!

A New Year, A New Website, and New Announcements!

Last year was an amazing year for Show Ready Events. We had a great combination

of challenge and success with both new and existing relationships. Some of our

highs included the successful execution of the FIRST Championship Event, the fun

had at the Sydney Robotics Competition, the dirt in the teeth at the SAE Baja

event, the thousands of happy attendees at the Healthcare Design Show, and the

fog permeating our pores at the Plasa Focus shows.

I also was happy to find myself sitting at a table with trusted partners Mike

Goff and Kim Anastasiou, as well as Kari and Sandy working on our professional

chops. What started as a noble attempt to gain our CMPs through our own Micro

New Hampshire study group, evolved into wonderful industry discussions of not

just how things are but how they should be. It is amazing when you put yourself

in the proper environment for intellectual extractment (my word, not in Websters

yet) what will come out. I learned so much from my colleagues that I found

myself rehashing conversations on my ride home. Someday maybe I will get my CMP

but the Convention Industries Council seems to have conspired against me to do

So.

This year we start off with an updated SRE website, which Kevin put a bunch of

time into. I believe that the look is more modern, and the content easy to find.

I have also made some strategic moves for the company. Shawnna Estrella is now

the Director of Operations and Events. In this role, amongst many things, she

will lead our talented team of event professionals, provide key planning and

logistical support to our clients, and dispense advice to me- something that I

readily appreciate. Anyone who knows Shawnna always first describes her upbeat

positive personality and “Can Do” approach to problem solving. I am selfish. I

expect that from her. What I most appreciate about her is her mature experience

and ability to look at things in new ways. Shawnna is never satisfied with the

“Same Ol’”.

Mindy Woodard is now our Senior Manager. Mindy has an amazing and interesting

background. She brings a modern approach to problem solving using technology

combined with a personality that you just can’t help but love. When you get to

know Mindy, you know that she is an amazing blend of Brainiac intelligence,

great ideas, and positivity all wrapped in a kick ass delivery reminiscent of

the modern day Wonder Woman!

Beyond what I have said about Shawnna and Mindy, the thing I am most proud of

with them- as well as the rest of the team- is that they are great people first.

They are committed to family and friends. They also understand what I have

learned again and again in life- that the right thing is not always the easy

thing. And that you sometimes only have one shot to do the right thing. They all

just happen to be great event professionals too!

We are a great family. Not every person in this world gets a chance to be part

of a great family. Most are either not part of a family, or part of a mediocre

family, or a semi-interactive family. Think of all of your friends and

colleagues and remember what you have learned about their families. Isn’t this

true? I am blessed to have two great families.

With all of this being said, I am very excited about 2016! I recently told my

staff that what we do is solve problems for a living. Some big, some small, some

in between. I look so forward to being a part of that both for my clients and

for my family this year!
